FORGOT FIFA 2020, it seems Subbuteo is looking to appeal to a new generation of football crazy players.

The table top football game, which people of a certain age will remember wiled away many a wet day during their childhood, is ready to stage a comeback.

Makers Hasbro tweeted this week that Subbuteo is back and ready to appeal to 2020 kids.

But what are your memories of it?

Buying your favourite football team’s models and guiding them to victories galore over your friends and family?

Alongside Panini sticker albums, Subbuteo were a must for football crazy kids of yesteryear.

It appears the game is set for a reboot soon. Get into the loft and dig out your favourite team’s figures.

Subbuteo comes scientific name Falco Subbuteo (a bird of prey commonly known as the Eurasian hobby), after a trademark was not granted to its creator Peter Adolph to call the game Hobby. It was first available in 1946.

But the game has been affected by the move by youngsters to more technology-based forms of entertainment including video games.

The game has moved with the times. In May 2018, the first all-female Subbuteo set has been launched to reflect the rapid growth of women’s football in the UK.
