A MUSIC and dance extravaganza got 175 people up and active at a special event for care home residents.
The ‘Ey Up Town Funk’ event at Wigan Youth Zone was designed to keep people active and create opportunities for young and older to spend time together.
The occasion was attended by care home residents and staff, Wigan Youth Zone students and Inspiring Healthy Lifestyle and Wigan Council staff who helped to plan the day.
It was organised to connect people to a time, to a place and to each other – helping attendees to recall memories and emotions.
Artists also took to the stage with performances, the event culminated in a huge dance-off to Bruno Mars Up Town Funk, with everyone, young and older, performing the same dance routine together.

Cabinet member for Health and Adult Services at Wigan Council, Councillor Keith Cunliffe, said: “The event highlights the quality of care in Wigan for older adults, with local care settings being courageous enough to do things differently, connecting people to the things they love.
“The feedback we received from the event was fantastic with everyone leaving with a smile on their face.”
