THERE have been four confirmed cases of coronavirus in the borough, according to Public Health England figures released today, Thursday.

Across the UK 3,269 people have tested positive for COVID-19 - an increase of 643 in the space of a day. Sadly, 144 people have died.

As of 9am this morning, 64,621 people in the UK have been tested for the virus.

People are advised to stay at home for seven days if they have a high temperature or a new continuous cough.

If they live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms.

Those staying at home are told to not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital and are advised that they do not need to contact NHS 111 to say they are self-isolating.

Testing people for coronavirus is not needed if they are staying at home, the Government say.
