WIGAN Council has apologised to residents who did not have their bins emptied today, Thursday, due to its staffing being affected by coronavirus.

Waste from homes in areas of Lowton and Ashton-in-Makerfield was not taken away due to the impact of COVID-19 on the council's workforce.

But the local authority said they will be going to those homes tomorrow, Friday, to collect the rubbish and have asked residents to leave their bins out.

"Sorry for the inconvenience."
