PLANS were approved to turn a former pub into apartments and to build an apartment block behind it.
A change-of-use application to convert The Red Cat Inn on Leigh Road in Hindley Green into apartments were granted. A three-storey building housing 12 apartments will be constructed at the rear of the former pub.
One letter of objection was submitted and raised concerns including over-development.

But a Wigan Council report said planning guidelines allows for the "sustainable development of previously developed land which is the case in this instance".
The council added that "there is no evidence the development would have a detrimental environmental impact on the surrounding land uses".
