A MAN was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at her home in the early hours of yesterday morning, Tuesday.
Police were called by the ambulance service to Wigan Road in Standish shortly after 3am to reports of an unexplained death.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 70-year-old woman died at the scene.
A 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He has since been released with no further action to be taken against him after a postmortem investigation was carried out and established that the woman had died after a fall.

Detective Inspector Philip Housley of Greater Manchester Police's Wigan division, said: “A woman has sadly lost her life, and our thoughts remain with her family and friends.
"Our specialist officers are currently supporting the family at this incredibly difficult time."
