ACTOR Mike Parr has praised Rainford pub The Star after they delivered a cooked meal and drinks to his granddad.

Mike, who grew up in Hard Lane, is best known for playing Ross Barton on Emmerdale, however the Sintellener might be in LA but his heart is still in his hometown.

He made an emotional post on his Instagram account thanking The Star in Rainford for delivering food to his granddad Ron who is in isolation due to coronavirus.

He said: "The incredible people at The Star in Rainford, St Helens (my home town) just delivered this to my Grandad who is in isolation.

"I can't stress enough how kind the staff and owners of this pub are.

"A famil ran business who treat their customers as extended family. I don't get anything from them for posting this and they haven't asked.

"They're doing it because they care for people.

"They must be struggling at the moment as many pubs and small businesses are, but they're still helping people who need it. That's real generosity!

"Thank you to everyone at The Star for your constant love and support towards your community and my main man, my grandad, Ron!

"Got quite overwhelmed writing this thinking of his smile when he answered the door! Thank You."
