A HOTEL group has earned the most recent edition of The Mail’s ‘Trader of the Week’ award due to hard work in a testing time.

Lucidity hospitality group runs two businesses in the Furness region which have been working to help those in need during the difficult period coronavirus has brought to the world.

The Dunes Hotel has committed to providing roast dinners to NHS staff each Sunday as well as accommodating key workers involved in the fight against the virus.

The Townhouse, based on Dalton Road in Barrow, has been producing fresh produce for Barrow Community Kitchen who are working hard to provide families with vital meals.

Gawain Steel, group operations director for Lucidity Group, said: “We are trying to help as much as we can in these troubling times whilst running on skeleton staff.

“We are a community-based business and we plan on sending roasts up to the hospital for the foreseeable future, as we are still producing fresh products for people.

“This health crisis has had a detrimental effect on business in the industry and a lot of hotels are having to close.

“We have had to let members of staff go but they will be reinstated when we are in a position to do so.

“Some of our key workers have been put on furlough but hopefully we will be bringing them back soon as rooms still need to be cleaned and meals still need to be made.

“We are hoping to have a summer barbecue if and when we come out of this.

“It is an honour to be recognised for what we are doing but there are many others out there that are doing better things than us.

“We are continuing to work hard to keep things local and fresh and helping where we can in these unprecedented times.”

Unfortunately due to government guidelines we are currently unable to visit traders to provide them with a certificate for their efforts.

But we will continue to celebrate them all the same from afar.

With so many businesses and traders doing so much to help the community in a time of a national health crisis, it is hard to single out just one.

So The Mail is asking members of the public to nominate a trader they believe deserves this accolade whether it be for a charitable act or just quality service during such uncertain times.

If you know of anyone deserving of this, send in your nomination by email to george.lythgoe@newsquest.co.uk, or call 07764657139.
