A TOTAL of ten people who tested positive for coronavirus have now died at the Countess of Chester Hospital, according to figures released this afternoon (April 3).

NHS England has confirmed that, as of 5pm yesterday, a total of 10 deaths have been recorded by the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

In Cheshire the death toll stands at 41, with 16 recorded by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, nine by East Cheshire NHS Trust, and six by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The latest Public Health England figures show there are now 360 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cheshire.

The most are in Cheshire West and Chester which has 116 cases, followed by Cheshire East (111), Warrington (82), and Halton (51).

Across the UK a total of 3,605 patients who tested positive for the virus have sadly died – another record rise of 684 deaths in a 24-hour period.

As of 9am on April 3, a total of 173,784 people have been tested of which 38,168 were positive.
