WIGAN and Leigh College has the highest 16-18 college achievement rates in the borough and is in the top seven per cent nationally.

The news was confirmed in the latest Department for Education National Achievement Rates Tables (NARTs), which also highlighted that the college has the highest Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) and Level 3 scores (A Level equivalent) in Greater Manchester.

This places the College significantly above the national average for achievement rates based on pass and retention rates from the 2018/19 academic year.

In addition, the College’s adult performance is strong and is also above the national average.

College Principal, Anna Dawe, said: “We are delighted that once again the achievements of last year’s students are among the top in the country.

“We hope that these achievements act as inspiration to this year’s students who, through these uncertain times, are continuing their courses online.”

This adds to the college's successful year, after being listed in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not–For–Profit Organisations to Work For 2020.
