STAFF at Leigh Post Office have swapped their normal uniform for special t-shirts to show their support for the NHS.

The t-shirts were created with an eye-catching rainbow and on the front it says Leigh Crown Post Office. Stay safe and well. Protect the NHS and keyworkers.

Leigh Post Office offers a wide variety of Post Office services including mail, bill payments, benefits and banking and these are deemed as essential services by the UK Government.

Elaine Cotterill, branch manager for Leigh Post Office, said: “The idea behind the t-shirts was that we wanted to make sure that all customers were social distancing to help our elderly and vulnerable customers.

“While there are signs up in branch asking customers to keep the 2 metre social distance rule and a one way system, I thought that if we looked different perhaps it would help to reinforce the message that the outside world has, for now changed.

“The feedback from the customers has been positive. People are showing their appreciation to us as keyworkers. We have had many thank you’s for being open to serve the community. The t-shirts have made an incredible difference with social distancing too.

“My Post Office team honestly love them, they are comfortable and easy to wash overnight as we only have one each and they feel more appreciated and it shows our support for the NHS and other keyworkers.”
