THIS year's scheduled Olympic Games in Tokyo have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, we have found our archives this picture from a time when an Olympian visited Leigh.

Pictured is 4x400m Great Britain gold medallist at the 1936 Games in Berlin Frederick Wolff.

The photo was taken at Leigh Harriers ground in August 1935, the year before Frederick's triumph in the Games, during which he was the first leg runner.

Do you have old pictures taken in Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley, Astley, Mosley Common, Lowton, Golborne, Glazebury, Hindley, Hindley Green or surrounding areas?

Then please email a copy over to simon.mulliganl@nqnw.co.uk and include information of what it shows.

It could feature in a future edition of the Journal.

You can also send pictures from the past that you want answers on. Our Journal readers may be able to help you fill in the missing names.

So please also send them over via email.
