THERE have been six more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the borough.

Public Health England figures show that 1,130 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 by 9am Thursday morning (May 21) in the borough, up from 1,124 the same time on Wednesday. A week before, there were 1,069 cases.

They were among the 24,295 cases recorded across the North West, a figure which rose by 163 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 250,908 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Thursday, up from 248,818 at the same point on Wednesday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. In total, 2,064,329 people had been tested, and, as of 5pm on Wednesday, 36,042 had died.
