A PERSONAL trainer who has been helping keep his clients active through lockdown has been nominated for an award.

Ste Cooper, from Rainhill, owner of the two Train gyms, has been nominated for the Fit Pro Awards 2020 Online Personal Trainer of the Year.

Voting is open and he is now hoping to successfully proceed to the next round as one of the top five.

St Helens Star:

Ste says being put forward for nomination was a "really nice surprise".

He said: "We have been nominated by a few people.

"It's not just me, we've got five trainers and we've all been working really hard."

St Helens Star:

He added: "When coronavirus shut down everything I thought rather than do a Facebook live, we'll do a live video where we can see our clients and keep on improving their technique.

"It is quite prestigious in our industry and the Online Personal Trainer category is quite a hotly contested market."

St Helens Star:

Ste added: “Thank you everyone who has voted so far. The fitness industry can be a fickle place. I like to think our team know their stuff and we’ve proven it both academically and every day with you guys and the other folk we train.

"We work hard to make fitness accessible for everyone despite any worries, health conditions or limitations they have.

"Wouldn’t it be nice if, for once in this social media world, the local dad that loves a beer (but also know what he’s talking about) won a fitness industry award instead of an 'Instagram influencer' with a tight T-shirt!”
