AN OFF-ROAD motorbike rider has died after a crash in Atherton.

Police were sent to Spa Road at around 7:15pm on Monday where a collision between an off-road bike and a car took place near the junction with Everest Road.

The rider of the motorcycle – a 29-year-old man – was taken to hospital, where he sadly died today, Friday.

His next of kin has been informed.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

PC Darren White, of Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Despite the best efforts of emergency services and hospital staff, the rider of the motorcycle has sadly passed away in hospital.

"Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time.

“An investigation is underway and the driver of the car is assisting us with our enquiries but, as ever, I would appeal to anyone with information or dashcam footage which may help us to get in touch.”
