TEENAGE carp angler Billy Kohe-Love has passed a new milestone while fine-tuning his skills since fishing's return from lockdown.

The 15-year-old, a student at Penketh High School who lives in Great Sankey, has landed two mirror carp over the magic 20lb mark in the past fortnight.

After Billy caught his personal best 21lbs fish 11 days ago, his father Toa Kohe-Love – the former Warrington Wolves, Hull FC, Widnes Vikings and Leigh Centurions centre – said on Facebook: "Our Billy buzzing, finally in the 20lb club."

And yesterday Billy added another whopper to his catch list, a 20lbs 9ozs mirror for the Warrington Anglers' Association member.

Warrington Guardian:

Both were tempted out of Appleton Reservoir using hair-rig tactics on the bottom of the reservoir, and the fish were put back into the water with great care as shown in Billy's Facebook video.

Going fishing is a family affair for Toa, his wife Sarah and their three boys.

"We all go but I’m just the netter," said Toa.

"Billy’s a bit of a carp fanatic so spends loads of time out."

Another of Billy's recent catches, this one under 20lbs

The lads have recently enjoyed their first overnight fishing session, camping at the side of their chosen venue.

Warrington Guardian:

Former Wire head coach John Dorahy, who signed New Zealander Toa for Warrington at the start of the Super League era, has been among the family and friends on both sides of the world congratulating Billy on Facebook for his recent catches.
