A MOLD man has been named as the victim of a motorbike crash.

An inquest opening has been held into the death of Paul Stevens, 57, of Lon Yr Ysgol in Caerwys, Mold, who died following a collision earlier this month.

John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, said at the inquest opening held at Denbighshire County Hall in Ruthin, that Mr Stevens died on Wednesday, July 1 following a collision on the A541 Mold to Denbigh Road.

It was said that Mr Stevens, a line operator, had collided with a HGV vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services were called and, despite best efforts, he died at the scene at around 2.30pm.

Mr Gittins requested that a post-mortem be undertaken which gave a provisional cause of death as ‘multiple injuries’.

The coroner said it is being investigated by the forensic police investigation unit at North Wales Police and will now proceed to a full inquest hearing.

It has been adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
