BUSINESSES in Aberconwy are being urged to take advantage of the next phase of support from the Government.

Abercowny MP Robin Millar has welcomed a new £30billion raft of funding from the Treasury which he believes will continue to support businesses in his constituency.

According to Mr Millar, more than 9500 jobs have been supported in Aberconwy which will now benefit from further measuresto support businesses, create jobs and give young people the opportunity of a better start.

Mr Millar said: “As the lockdown has slowly eased I have been getting out and about meeting small businesses across Aberconwy. We have a fantastic range of small independent and family rub retailers here. They are the glue which holds out local economy together. They employ our neighbours, they feed our visitors and service the bigger companies.

“Now they need our support.”

As part of the budget, employers will receive a £1,000 bonus for each member of furloughed staff retained until January, as well as a temporary cut in VAT for the tourism and hospitality sector and plans for a Kickstart team to create subsidised jobs for young people nationwide.

The registration for Cafes, Pubs and Restaurants wishing to to take part is open now, with Mr Millar’s office offering to compile, publish and publicise a list of participating establishments.

“How about those friends and family who don’t live locally? What a great excuse to suggest people come and visit and stay in our great hotels and guest houses.

“We have a fantastic and unique destination here in Aberconwy – let’s make the most of it together.”
