A MAN is fighting for his life after a petrol scooter and a car were in a crash in Wigan.

The incident involving a Ford Galaxy and the scooter happened at around 6.30pm yesterday evening (Saturday, July 18) on Poolstock Lane, Wigan.

A 53-year-old man – who had been riding the scooter – was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

He is in a critical condition, say police.

The driver of the Galaxy remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

Police Constable Neil Pennington, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man is currently fighting for his life in hospital after yesterday’s collision and our thoughts are very much with him and his family as he receives treatment.

“We’re working hard to piece together the circumstances surrounding this incident and are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch. 

“If you have dash-cam footage of either vehicle in the area around the time of the collision, please give us a call as it could really assist with our enquiries.”
