A YOUTH abandoned a car and ran away after being witnessed driving erratically by police – but then returned to the scene to ask for his phone back.
Moments later – after being questioned over alleged driving and drugs offences – he fled again...only to be chased down by officers.
Last night (Monday) officers witnessed a vehicle driving erratically on Atherton Road, Hindley and it parked on a car park on Long Lane.
Police say that for "some unknown reason the occupants fled quickly and left items of note in the vehicle".
A police spokesperson added: "The driver returned along with a passenger requesting his phone back from the vehicle.
"When spoken to in relation to driving offences and a search conducted under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act the passenger decided to flee again! A short chase later and he was apprehended."
Officers later arrested two teenagers in connection with the incident.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of class B and an offensive weapon and an 18-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and a licence, possession of class B and obstructing police.
A car was also seized for having no insurance.
