A DRIVER abandoned the car he was behind the wheel of after a police chase – but was tracked after officers phoned his mum.
Police pursued a VW Polo after it made off from officers on Lever Edge Lane in Bolton.
The vehicle was discovered on Freshfield Avenue, where it had been abandoned.
Police say two of four occupants of the car had been caught but the driver escaped the scene.
However, officers found that he had left his phone in the vehicle and got his name by phoning his mum.
A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesman said: "VWPolo made off on Lever Edge Lane Bolton. It was abandoned on Freshfield Avenue.
