ROADWORKS crop up for a host of reasons from road resurfacing and construction work to gas mains replacements and telecoms jobs.

Here are the road closures and temporary traffic lights that are in place across the borough with the expected completion date of the works:

Bolton

  • Off peak stop and go boards will be in operation on Chorley Old Road from tomorrow, Thursday, until Saturday for remedial works.
  • There will be an off-peak lane closure on Deansgate from Friday until Tuesday, August 4 as Virgin Media do telecoms work.
  • Deepdale Road, at the junction with Winster Drive, has temporary traffic lights at off-peak hours from today, Wednesday, until Friday as Openreach carry out works.
  • Howell Croft South (outside the Octagon Theatre) will be one way towards Le Mans Crescent from August 20 to this autumn as reconstruction work on the theatre gets underway.
  • There will be a lane closure on Coronation Street, from Newport Arcade to Victoria Square, during this time as park of the development.
  • Lostock Lane will be closed until Friday, August 14 as Cadent Gas fit a mains replacement.
  • Mill Street (Lum Street - Back Craddock Street) is expected to be shut until December as a KDC Construction rebuild a supporting wall.
  • A temporary road closure will be in place on Moss Bank Way (Chorley Old Road to Old Kiln Lane) until Saturday for carriageway surface works.
  • Newbrook Road (from Salford Road to the boundary with Atherton) will have an off-peak lane closure for carriageway works.
  • Northern Grove will be shut until Friday for resurfacing work.
  • Plodder Lane has been closed today, Wednesday, and is set to reopen on Saturday after carriageway work.

Trinity Street, Newport Street and the Thynne Street junction will be shut until Friday for resurfacing work.

Farnworth

Temporary traffic lights will be in place during off-peak hours on Anchor Lane until Tuesday, August 4 due to Talk Talk carrying out installation work.

Church Street was shut on Monday during off-peak hours for resurfacing works and these restrictions are expected to be lifted on Friday.

Highfield Road and Watson Road in Farnworth has temporary traffic lights in place at Talk Talk put in a fibre installation. Restrictions on the former road will be lifted on August 11 and Friday on the latter road, which is only in place at off-peak hours.

There will be temporary traffic lights at off-peak times at Plodder Lane, Bradford Road and Marsh Lane from tomorrow, Thursday, until Monday as Talk Talk complete a fibre work installation.

Presto Street will have a road closure in place during off-peak hours until Friday for carriageway work.

Horwich

There will also be temporary lights on Chorley New Road and Winter Hey Lane until Sunday, August 9 due to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) doing a traffic signal upgrade.

Stoneclough

Temporary traffic lights are set to be removed from Hulme Road (Kearsley Hall Road) in Stoneclough on Friday five months after United Utilities carried out water works there.
