POLICE have warned people not to attend a planned “illegal car meet” planned to take place in Leigh today.
Greater Manchester Police say they have been made aware of an illegal gathering planned at Parsonage Retail Park later today (Sunday).
Officers have issued a warning that they will turn anyone away trying to enter the area and the law will be enforced if necessary.
A large police presence will be in place at the retail park.

In a statement issued this afternoon, police said: “GMP is aware of an illegal car meet that is planning to take place in Leigh later today (Sunday, August 9) at the Parsonage Retail Park.
“We would like to remind those who are planning to attend the event that gatherings of this kind are illegal and will not be tolerated and a dispersal order has been authorised for the area.
“A large police presence will be at the Park to turn away anyone trying to enter the vicinity.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety of the people of Greater Manchester and anyone reported to be flouting the legislation is reminded that officers will enforce the law where necessary.”
