DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after receiving reports that a woman was assaulted at 'The Burgies' on Saturday night.
Police say a woman was walking across a piece of land, off Merton Bank Road, Islands Brow who reported being approached by a man and assaulted.
A police cordon was in place at the site into Sunday
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place at around 11.50pm on Saturday.
CCTV from the area is being examined and local enquiries carried out.

Police say officers are still working to piece together the full circumstances of the incident.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "At this early stage of the investigation officers are working to piece together the full circumstances of this incident and would urge anyone with any information about it to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 quoting reference 1387 of August 8, 2020, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
