LEIGH Centurions forward Nathan Mason has committed his future to the Club by signing a new contract for 2021.

Mason joined Leigh for the 2020 season from London Broncos though he had played for the Club before while on loan from Huddersfield Giants in 2018, earning #HN1443.

He said the decision to stay with Leigh Centurions was an easy one. “I love it at Leigh,” he explained.

“So it was a no-brainier when I was offered a new contract. We have a good bunch of lads here and the break has been so frustrating given the way we started the season.

“Hopefully we can keep as many of this year’s squad together as possible and crack on again next season because it will be a very competitive Betfred Championship.

“John Duffy is a very thorough coach and though we enjoy ourselves in training, it’s serious business once we get out on the pitch.”

Leigh Centurions Head Coach John Duffy said Mason was a player he was keen to get re-signed.

He said: “Nathan is a player who simply loves playing for Leigh. He was so happy to join us last year after being at the Club on loan.

“He totally bought into our preseason programme and started the year extremely well, showing some real consistency in the games he played. Nathan is a quality player and along with the other forwards we have resigned like Tom Spencer and Alex Gerrard plus Adam Walker, we’ve got some big boys in there with plenty of quality.”

Mason started out with the Waterhead community club in Oldham before turning pro with Huddersfield Giants. He spent time at his hometown club Oldham on dual reg as well as Batley.

In 2019, he played 16 times for London Broncos in Super League as well as eight games at their dual registration partners Sheffield including the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final success against Widnes Vikings at Wembley.
