A PLANNING application has been submitted seeking permission to create a public footpath and to install children's play equipment as part of the Vulcan Village project.

Plans have been drawn up for land off Wargrave Road at 'phase three' of the Vulcan Village development.

Developer St Modwen, created 200 homes on a 14-acre plot at Vulcan Urban Village in Newton-le-Willows as part of the third phase of the long-running project.

Previous plans said that when completed, the site will also include a children’s play area and community facilities.

A follow up application has been submitted outlining details of the play area and seeking permission for a footpath also.

The proposed play area includes a timber swing; timber-crossed beams; a timber log walk; an adventure trail balance beam; a timber wobble board; a timber rope walk; a gravity bowl; and a blue and orange plastic slide.

The footpath will be 75 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, 1.8 metres at passing points.

A determination deadline on plans is set for October 29.

Plans for 91 homes for 'phase four' of the Vulcan Village project were passed earlier this year.
