DENBIGHSHIRE County Council has confirmed that a school in the county will be closed for a week, following a confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Ysgol Bryn Clwyd school in Llandyrnog will be closed up to and including Monday, September 28.

On Sunday, the school, which has 44 pupils, wrote to all parents and guardians informing them of the position, asking all staff and pupils to self-isolate, to try and reduce the possible spread of Covid-19, in line with Public Health Wales guidance.

Parents/ guardians have been advised to remain alert for the main symptoms of coronavirus.:

• A new or continuous cough

• A high temperature

• A loss of or change to sense of smell or taste

Those advised to self-isolated should book a Coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild. A test can be booked by phoning 119 or online: https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test

Self-isolation advice requires those self isolating to stay at home, not to go outdoors to exercise, to visit shops, family or friends, or to other public spaces. Please do not invite people to your house.

If children remain well, they can return to school on Tuesday, September 29.

Councillor Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Cabinet Lead Member for Education, Children, Young People and Public Engagement, said: “We are working closely with Ysgol Bryn Clwyd, Public Health Wales and NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect to ensure that all the appropriate measures are in place to protect pupils, staff and the wider community.

“We have decided to close the school as a precautionary measures and urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to request a test if their child presents any symptoms.
