A SMALL number of year 9 students at Knutsford Academy are the latest students at the school to have to self-isolate because of a coronavirus case in their year group.

Parents received a letter from the school today (Tuesday) to say that a single case of Covid-19 in year 9 had been confirmed today.

The letter said Public Health England had instructed the school to ask a small number of year 9 students to self-isolate for the required period.

"These year 9 students are expected back into school on Monday, October 12," said the letter.

"The school remains open to all other students in year 9, as well as students in years 7, 8, 11 and 12, and your child should continue to attend school if they remain well."

Year 10 and 13 students are continuing to isolate, but year 10 should return to school as planned this Friday, October 2, and year 13 students on Friday, October 9.

Year 11 students were due back today (Tuesday) after isolating.

A statement on the school's website today said: "This morning the school were advised that a student in the Year 9 bubble has tested positive for Covid-19.

"On receiving guidance from Public Health England we were instructed that a small number of year 9 students are to self-isolate with immediate effect, they can return to school on Monday, October 12.

"Following the discussions with Public Health England this morning, the school can remain open for other students in year 9.

"This includes siblings of those year 9 students who are self-isolating as well as students in years 7, 8, 11 and 12."
