LATEST statistics show which neighbourhoods were the worst-affected areas for coronavirus-related deaths in the first five months of the pandemic.

The interactive map published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows how many people in each area of Trafford have died after contracting coronavirus.

The statistics showed that 247 people had died in the first five months of the pandemic and they were connected to COVID-19.

The Messenger reported in July that there had been 210 deaths.

According to the figures Urmston East was the worst affected area (19 deaths) between March 1 and July 31.

Flixton and Moorside were the next highest with 17, followed by Sale Moor and Altrincham West, Dunham and Warburton with 14.

The next highest figure was in Bowdon (13) then Partington, Hale Barns and Timperley East had 12.

Sale Central and Timperley South had 11 deaths while West Timperley reached double figures with 10.

Ashton-Upon-Mersey South and Sale North had nine virus-related deaths, then in Old Trafford there were eight.

Davyhulme, Stretford West and Urmston East each had seven cases and Lostock and Stretford Meadows, Ashton-Upon-Mersey North and Timperley North all had six.

Gorse Hill and Firswood recorded four Covid-19 deaths while Trafford Park West & Kingsway Park and Trafford Park East and Sevenways had three deaths.

The lowest figures were seen in Broadheath and Firsway with two deaths during the period.

The ONS figures show that poorer areas have been the worst hit by the pandemic, with people in the most deprived areas of England more than twice as likely to die of Covid-19 as those in the least deprived areas.
