A FURTHER 83 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Cheshire West and Chester in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to Government data.

The latest increase takes the total number of cases for the borough since the start of the pandemic to 4,112.

The weekly infection rate for Cheshire West and Chester, up to October 10, stood at 195.3 (670 cases) per 100,000.

The borough was this week placed in 'tier two' of the Government's new lockdown restrictions for England, which came into force today.

Across the UK, there were a further 15,650 confirmed cases taking the total number to 689,257. In England, there was increase of 12,176 cases which puts the total number at 584,843.
