A SALES rep has called it a day on her successful career and retired after 30 years in the industry.

Carol Gee, 66, handed over her last set of house keys at Persimmon Gardens in Hindley Green and is now looking forward to some much-needed ‘me time’, spending more time with her five children and 13 grandchildren whose ages range from two to 21, and enjoying some travel.

It was back in 2011 that Carol was invited to joined Persimmon Homes by North West sales director Dave Hodgson, who she had worked with previously at Barratt Homes.

After a week learning the Persimmon ropes at a development in Leigh, Carol moved to Middlebrook View in Wigan where she saw out the life of the development.

In one 10-month period, Carol sold 84 properties, and in 2016 she was named Persimmon Sales Rep of the Year.

Carol said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Persimmon, especially welcoming youngsters into the industry, training some of the new reps and giving them the benefit of my experience.

“Obviously this year Coronavirus has been a game-changer for us all, I’ve never known anything like it, but I’ve enjoyed the challenge of adapting to new ways and news ideas. Selling a house via a zoom conference was never going to be easy, but we managed to do it! It was lovely though, when we were able to safely welcome customers back through the door.

“I’m going to miss everyone at Persimmon, but I am really looking forward to seeing more of my family, and hopefully getting out to Spain for an extended stay.”

Dave Hodgson added: “We’re all going to miss Carol not only professionally but personally. I’ve worked with her for many years and she is one of the best, someone I have always been able to rely on to do the job. We wish her well in her retirement.”

A retirement dinner for Carol has been re-scheduled for next year when it is safe for everyone to meet up.
