A BLAZE involving a quantity of rubbish broke out in Atherton this morning.
Three fire engines were sent to Coal Pit Lane at around 7.20am where they used hose reels and breathing apparatus to put the flames out.
Crews were there for around three-and-a-half hours.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “At 7.22am on Friday, firefighters were called to a fire involving a quantity of rubbish on Coal Pit Lane, in Atherton.
“Fire crews from Atherton, Hindley and Leigh quickly attended the scene.
"Firefighters used three hose reels and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
“Fire crews were in attendance for around three hours and 30 minutes.”
