THE World of Glass launches its new 2021 exhibition programme this December, with Wigan artist Jane Fairhurst.

The new exhibition runs from Saturday, December 5 - Friday, January 22 2021 and is a continuation of her work addressing a range of subject matters under her In Series body of work.

The artist based at Cross Street Art Studio's has a fascination with ancient cultures of the ancient past and their response to contemporary society. She sees her art as very much a platform to start conversations about many issues and opinions. From critiquing capitalism, environmental concerns and why women have been left out of our human story.

She works across a range of media using the one most applicable to her narrative, including painting, drawing, textiles, mixed media and installation.

In Series shows the range of media and depth of research covered by Jane during the two decades since she was instrumental in establishing the first studio group in Wigan, Cross Street Arts.

Hannah Billinge, TWOG's Curator said: "COVID meant that all programming and planning was put on hold but we are determined to have an exhibition programme moving forward.

"Art is integral to many people's health and wellbeing so we want to have great work on display and encourage people to come in to see he work.

Jane's work always creates interesting conversations and that's what art is all about. Everyone has their own reasons for liking different pieces, but it's when they cause debate that things get interesting!"

In Series runs until January 22 and much of the work is for sale.
