FOUR men have been arrested after reports of trespassing at Hindley Prison.

The arrests were made after a group of men were said to have attempted to trespass the grounds of HMP on the night of Tuesday, November 17.

Officers were called at around 9.50pm to a report of men attempting to get into the grounds of the prison and acting suspiciously.

Patrols attended and, with assistance from the National Police Air Service (NPAS), pursued on foot four men who had made off.

Four men were arrested – aged 49, 45, 32 and 26 – on suspicion of criminal damage and conspiracy to supply controlled drugs. They were taken into custody for questioning.

Officers recovered a discarded bag with which are believed to contain contraband – namely drugs and mobile phones – and they have been taken for forensic examination.
