JACK Ashworth has joined Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2021 season, bringing to an end nine years at the Saints.

Ashworth joined St Helens from the Rochdale Youth System before training with the Saints Academy back in 2011.

He made his first team debut against Hull in 2015 and played a further six times in 2016.

He was beset by injury in 2017 but broke into the first team squad once more in 2018 after playing on dual-registration at Sheffield.

Ashworth was a regular off the bench in Justin Holbrook’s Grand Final winning side of 2019, but only played four time in 2020’s Super League success and will now take on a new challenge at the Giants next season.

St Helens Star:

Ashworth said: “I would like to thank everyone at the Club including all the players and staff for everything they have done for me.

"The memories I have had, I will save them for ever. I am really grateful to be part of a Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final last year and another Grand Final win this year.

"I am gutted my time here has come to an end because the lads are like brothers to me, but it is something I need to do at this time in my career.

St Helens Star:

"Hopefully it will improve me and take me to that next level. It’s not been easy, but again I just want to thank everyone for the memories and that is the biggest thing I will take away from the Club.”

Saints head coach Kristian Woolf said: “Jack has been at the Club for nine years and I want to thank him on behalf of everyone at the Saints for his efforts and commitment.

"He has been a valued member of the squad and can always look back on playing his part in two Super League Grand Final wins.

"We wish the best of luck at Huddersfield and the rest of his career.”
