LEIGH MP James Grundy says he is self-isolating after developing symptoms consistent with coronavirus.
The Conservative MP says he is isolating pending the outcome of a coronavirus test.
The MP has arranged for his vote on the coronavirus restrictions tiered system, expected in the House of Commons this evening, to be made by proxy.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Mr Grundy said: "Unfortunately, yesterday I developed symptoms consistent with coronavirus.
"It might just be a cold or the flu, but I can't take the risk, so will be self-isolating pending a test. It's immensely frustrating, but obviously, it's important to follow the rules.
"I have arranged for a proxy vote to be exercised on my behalf in Parliament so that the voice of Leigh is still able to be heard.
"Hopefully, I will test negative, but either way, I shall continue working from home."
