LEIGH and surrounding areas have seen coronavirus rates decrease in the council's latest breakdown of cases.
The latest COVID-19 tracker, which looks at cases between November 22 and 28, saw the number of new cases continues to decrease compared to this time last week. However, rates for the borough remain higher than regionally and nationally
Wigan borough has the fifth highest rate of new cases in Greater Manchester and in the the seven days from November 22 to November 28, had 697 new cases identified, a rate of 212.1 per 100,000 population.
The vast majority of wards in the borough have seen a decrease in cases compared to the previous week.
However, Hindley saw an increase from 26 to 36.
Meanwhile, the death rate in the borough decreased.
As of November 20 there have been 587 deaths registered for Wigan residents that mention COVID-19, with 48 of those in the week leading up to that date, a decrease of four from the previous week.
