LOWTON East had the highest coronavirus rates in the area for the last week in December, according to the council's latest Covid tracker.
A breakdown of coronavirus cases showed that all wards in Leigh and surrounding areas saw an increase in infections between December 24 and 30.
Lowton East had the highest rate of COVID-19 cases for the week at 547 per 100,000 population. Astley Mosley Common had the second highest rate at 478.
Borough-wide, out of the seven wards with the highest rate in the latest week, six had at least double the rate of the previous week.
