FIRE crews spent around five hours at the scene of a blaze in a terraced house on Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to Firs Lane, Leigh shortly after 4pm to tackle a fire at a property.
Police put a road closure in place as the fire was dealt with.
The circumstances of the fire are under investigation.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 4.08pm GMFRS were called to reports of a fire in a terraced house on Firs Lane, Leigh.
“We sent four fire engines from Wigan, Leigh, Hindley and Atherton. Firefighters used hose reels, breathing apparatus and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.
“Greater Manchester Police were also in attendance at the scene and an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of the fire.
"Fire crews were in attendance for approximately five hours.”
