A DOG walker was stabbed after being in a confrontation with a group of teenage boys.

Police were called at around 11.45pm on Saturday night (April 3) to a report of a man being stabbed in Astley earlier that evening

It is understood a 30-year-old man was walking his dog at around 8pm when he was involved in a confrontation with a small group of teenage boys, near Astley Bridge on Higher Green Lane.

The man was then stabbed and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information can contact police online, if able, or 101 quoting incident 3848 of April 3, 2021.

"Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
