A MAN threatened to stab customers after demanding a bottle of vodka from a shop owner in Wigan.

The attempted robbery took place at the Premier Store on Beach Hill Avenue at around 8.55pm on Thursday, April 1.

The man is described as white, 6ft 1ins tall, about 35-years-old. He was wearing a black tracksuit with white initials on the left-hand side of the chest and bottoms.

He was also wearing a grey baseball cap, partly covered by the hood of his tracksuit, and a light-coloured face mask over his lower face but had black facial hair beneath it.

He was also wearing black Adidas trainers.

Detective Constable Paul Sumner said: "The suspect entered the store, produced a large knife and said, 'give me the money out of the till'.

"The victim refused and the suspect then threatened to stab customers if the victim did not hand over money.

"The suspect then demanded a bottle of vodka or he would stab the victim.”

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident.
