POLICE say they are stepping up patrols over recent reports of vehicle crime in Hindley.

Officers say there has been a rise in such incidents.

In a statement on the GMP Leigh, Atherton & Hindley page, officers said: "We have received a rise in reports of vehicle crime in the areas covered by Abram and Hindley, particularly theft of motor vehicle in Platt Bridge and theft from motor vehicle in Hindley/ Hindley Green.

"We would encourage vehicle owners to take extra care when securing vehicles, do not leave them running with the keys in the ignition and do not leave your car insecure with valuables inside/on display.

"If you have a keyless entry vehicle a faraday pouch is effective at blocking the signal the key transmits to the car. Neighbourhood officers will be out in these areas high visibility patrolling.

"If you have any information about crime in your area you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
