Columnist Alex Farrington runs Warrington Foodies on Instagram. The Fairfield resident champions the town’s hospitality venues by publicising what’s on offer

OVER the past few weeks it’s been really encouraging to see the people of Warrington out in their numbers supporting our hospitality businesses.

With lockdown easing allowing for outdoor drinking and dining again, I have enjoyed several meals out including a fantastic pub lunch at The Ring O’ Bells – how nice it felt to be back in a beer garden.

Based on Church Street, and arguably one of Warrington’s most iconic pubs, The Ring O’ Bells has also launched a new menu which includes all of your pub favourites as well as some unique twists on classic dishes.

My partner and I struggled to pick because everything sounded tempting but in the end opted for classic fish and chips and pan fried sea bass, both were excellent.

The staff deserve a mention too – knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming, you could tell this team were happy to be back.

As well as seeing established businesses relaunch, it’s fantastic to see so many new businesses opening up for the first time across Warrington, especially given the past year’s events.

I am particularly excited to visit Rudy’s pizzeria who will be opening the doors to their Stockton Heath restaurant on Monday.

Having previously lived in Manchester, I have had the pleasure of enjoying Rudy’s pizza before in their Ancoats restaurant and am more than just a bit excited to have them on my doorstep in Warrington.

The Cookhouse at Warrington Market has also seen some exciting new additions in recent months and I have been lucky enough to sample some of the menu from newcomers Cotto Pasta Kitchen.

Brought to us by the team behind East Asian street food trader Eastern Point, Cotto Pasta Kitchen is an absolute must try for lovers of Italian food. You’ll find staple choices such as spaghetti bolognese and lasagne, alongside dishes incorporating more of a modern street food style. These guys have perfected the balance of traditional versus contemporary and have plenty vegan and veggie options available too.

While Warrington has been fairly lucky with the weather recently, being able to eat and drink indoors again from Monday is a very welcome announcement. Moving us one step closer to normality, I can’t wait to be able to grab a coffee inside with family and friends without having to rely on the ever changing and unpredictable British weather.
