TO celebrate the reopening of indoor licensed venues across England, Wales and Scotland next week, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and manufacturers Unicorn have been asking pubgoers and darts fans to nominate their local to receive one of 50 new Unicorn Eclipse dartboards.

However, due to the incredible response, the pair have decided to send an additional 50 boards, meaning 100 venues across the UK will receive a new board as they reopen for indoor service and grassroots darts resumes.

Led by darts superfan and award-winning actor, Stephen Fry, who nominated The Greyhound pub in Swaffham, over 1000 people have entered their local to receive one of the new boards being given away!

Fry famously commentated alongside the legendary Sid Waddell on Sky Sports at the 2010 Premier League Play-Offs, and nominated The Greyhound after the pub was used as one of the filming locations in the “Kingdom” series which he previously starred in.

The #SupportYourLocal campaign has also seen former Sky Sports darts presenter and PDC Hall of Fame member Dave Clark nominate The Bay Hotel in Robin Hood’s Bay to receive a new Unicorn dartboard, with the venue being a regular stopping-point in his visits to the area.

Former World Champions Bob Anderson and John Lowe have nominated The Salthouse in Clevedon and The Victoria in Chesterfield respectively, while many current PDC stars are also supporting the campaign, including two-time Premier League champion Gary Anderson and reigning World Matchplay winner Dimitri Van den Bergh.

Matt Porter, PDC Chief Executive, said: “The reaction to the giveaway has been incredible and shows how excited people are for the return of indoor hospitality and pub darts. Due to the success of the campaign, we have doubled our original figure and will now be sending out 100 Unicorn boards to celebrate the safe return to indoor venues.”

Edward Lowy, Unicorn Products Ltd Managing Director, said: "It’s wonderful to have seen such a great reaction from darts fans across the UK to nominate local pubs, and to be able to double the number of dartboards being given away will enable even more people to enjoy a return to the oche!”

Darts fans can still nominate their local pub to receive a new Unicorn dartboard through https://pdc.tell-us-what-you-think.com/s3/PDC-Reopening-Pubs-Bars until 2359 BST on Sunday May 16 or through pdc.tv/SupportYourLocal.

The Unibet Premier League will conclude from May 24-28, and is being shown live on Sky Sports. Eight of the world’s leading players are continuing the battle to claim the title in the Play-Offs on Friday May 28 in Milton Keynes, where a £250,000 top prize is on offer.
