LEIGH Centurions repeated recent form in the way they lost 40-16 at Hull KR on Sunday.

Falling away in the second half on the back of individual errors has been a habit of late while in pursuit of a first Super League win this season.

John Duffy’s side had found a way back into the Round 8 contest after trailing 12-0 early on but got themselves back on level terms and were only six points behind at the break.

However, the hosts, playing in front of their home fans for the first time in 15 months, made Leigh pay for costly errors in the second half as they rose to the occasion scoring four tries without reply to eventually send their supporters home happy.

Kane Linnett opened the scoring for the home side with three minutes gone following some sustained pressure.

Ryan Hall then touched down as a grubber kick from Jordan Abdull, who missed both conversions, ran loose.

Leigh struck back as Ben Hellewell took an offload and raced clear with Ben Reynolds adding the extras.

Reynolds dropped the kick-off and Rovers made him pay with an unconverted try in the right corner from Greg Minikin.

Lewis Tierney and Ryan Brierley combined with the latter crossing as Leigh hit back again and Reynolds’ kick squared the game at 12-12 after 15 minutes.

Abdull set up Linnett for his second score and converted.

Thirty minutes passed before Rowan Milnes gathered another Abdull kick to extend KR’s lead.

Leigh’s next two possessions broke down as Matty Storton and then Brad Takairangi stripped the ball close to their own line.

Dean Hadley stretched from the tackle to touch down after 65 minutes and Abdull’s third successful kick put the home side 30-12 in front.

Hall had a simple score in the left corner from Hadley’s pass and Abdull’s kick made it 36-12.

Hellewell stretched to score his second and Leigh’s third try with 10 minutes left.

Hall’s third try came courtesy of a flicked pass from Milnes.
