A MAN was arrested on suspicion of a series of offences after police followed a car on Saturday night.

Officers intended pulling over a car on Bolton Road that was driving without lights on in the dark.

But when another vehicle did not stop at the side of the road to allow the patrol car to get past officers decided to follow it.

A short while later the car came to a cul-de-sac on Chiltern Avenue and one of the passengers fled.

Officers from Leigh’s Neighbourhood Policing Team came to assist with the remaining two passengers and driver.
