POLICE are appealing for information after a 44-year-old man died due to injuries sustained in a "disturbance" in Wigan earlier this month.

Just after midnight on Monday, October 4, Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Linney Square in Scholes, with a number of people sustaining minor injuries.

Kunil Nur, 44, was taken to Bolton hospital after the incident, and was later discharged.

However, Mr Nur died six days later on Sunday, October 10 due to lasting complications with his injuries.

At present, the circumstances and cause of Mr Nur's death are unclear, as a post-mortem is being carried out to determine further details.

Detectives are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry since Mr Nur's death, and are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the disturbance in Linney Square to come forward.

Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident, and have since been bailed pending further enquiries as the investigation into the cause of his death continues.

Detective Sergeant Sophie O'Rourke, from Wigan CID, said: "First and foremost our thoughts remain with the man's family who are understandably devastated.

"We immediately launched an investigation and all available lines of enquiry and CCTV checks have been carried out since the reported disturbance in Wigan.

"We're keeping an open mind around the circumstances of his death and are now in a position to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance on Linney Square late that evening to contact us.
