A NEW gym opened in Newton-le-Willows over the weekend, intending to fulfil a community need for a vibrant and wide-ranging fitness hub.
Newton Fitness officially opened their doors on Wargrave Road on Sunday, October 10, confident they can help residents achieve their health, fitness and body goals, whatever that may be.
The business has been created by Mo Al-Yasseri, a fitness instructor who has worked in gyms around the region, and Newton born Mo Zaki, who has similarly worked in the local fitness industry.
After the difficult 18 months of the pandemic, in particular the isolating months of lockdown, Al-Yasseri explained Newton Fitness is designed as a community hub and a "big family" that looks to improve the mental health, self-confidence and mindset of residents.
With personal training sessions, diet plans, bodybuilding, weight training and cardio fitness available, Al-Yasseri said it is his "passion" to see people achieve their fitness goals.
The fitness instructor said: "I love the look in people's eyes when they see the final results of what their body and mind can achieve. I believe everyone can achieve their goal with the right advice and its powerful to see it happen.
Explaining a community-focused fitness facility is what has been missing in Newton, he describes the gym can be an "escape" for residents who can meet new people, while improving their physique and mental health.
The response to the gym is said to have been "amazing" from the community, who are looking forward to the studio classes opening up soon.
Mo Zaki, added: “Newton-le-Willows is my home and where my family live. We want to invest in our town and create jobs here working with the community. The response has been amazing and we can only thank everyone who has supported us to deliver our dream."
Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron offically opened the business with a ribbon cut with the owners and said: “Covid has shown us that we should shop local and support local businesses, especially when they choose to invest in our home town.
"The team at Newton Fitness have taken a closed down building and brought it back into use on a key road into our town centre. They’ve created jobs and investment, and as I and the other Labour Councillors said at the Planning Committee: we should support local businesses and help them grow and invest here. We welcome all investment and job creation with open arms.”
