FIVE weeks of strike action will affect a number of Chester and Ellesmere Port bus services running to and from North Wales.

Several Arriva services will not be in operation until December 19 unless an agreement can be reached to resolve the dispute over drivers' pay.

Around 400 Arriva drivers voted overwhelmingly to take strike action, which began this week.

The Arriva bus services affected in our area are:

  • 1/1A Chester - Blacon (partnership service is operating as normal)
  • 1 Chester - Wrexham
  • 3 Chester - Broughton
  • 4/4S/X4 Chester - Mold
  • 5 Ellesmere Port - Mold
  • 10 Chester - Connah’s Quay
  • 10A Chester - Flint
  • 11/11A Chester - Holywell
  • 15 Chester – Saughall (partnership service is operating as normal)
  • 15B Blacon - Countess of Chester Hospital

The Arriva Midlands services 2, 2A and 2C in Wrexham and Arriva North West Services 84 and X30 into Chester will continue to operate.

Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said: “The Council is providing information to passengers who would normally catch the buses which are not running during this period.

“The Real Time Information screens have been updated to keep passengers informed. We are advising passengers who plan to travel on affected services to check details before setting off.

"The council’s Park and Ride services from Boughton heath, Upton and Wrexham Road are fully operational.”
