A GREYHOUND rescue held its annual Christmas fair.
Makants Greyhound Rescue held its fifth festive fair which this year was held at the British Legion club in Boothstown.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, last year the greyhound rescue, based in Tyldesley, was disappointed to miss its major fundraising event.
This year they more than made up for last year and the fair featured a ‘doggie deli’, a home made cake stall, handmade crafts, and even a chocolate tombola.
Attendees were also invited to bring along their well behaved dogs, many of which were suitably attired in Christmas-themed outfits. The rescue were delighted with the local support and, at the end of the day, announced a total of over £3,800 had been raised.
As the Journal reported, during the summer the rescue celebrated homing their 500th hound, a lovely brindle hound called Lilly, who went to her forever home in Queensferry, North Wales.
Siobhan Hoppley, founder of the rescue said: "We were so pleased with the support we received at our Christmas Fair and through the hard work of our volunteers we were able to raise such a fantastic sum.
"My thanks to everyone involved."
